Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray are ready for battle again – and so are we

Anyone who saw Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic carving out another chapter in their intense rivalry on the red dust of Rome on Sunday will know the time has come for the tennis season to get serious again.

As the world’s best players have battled it out over the last few weeks, it’s all been about injuries, recovery and, in the case of Roger Federer, producing brilliantly named twin boys (that’s Leo and Lenny).

All very interesting – and wonderful in the case of Rog – but what has made men’s tennis for the last few years has been the fight for supremacy among the big four of Nadal, Djokovic, Federer and Andy Murray.

And after all the talk of Djokovic’s wrist, Murray’s back and the end of Nadal’s dominance on clay, the signs are battle has been joined…
